The tutu should never dance the dancer, the dancer should always dance the tutu.

Every dancer is different and it is a myth that all dancers are tiny. Tutus need to be form-fitted to the dancer…

Performance Tutu

The performance tutu comes in different types, romantic, bell, platter, and classic referred to as pancake. There are ten layers of net in a performance tutu and they are hand-stitched in the Russian technique. Performance tutus comprise of three parts the bodice, basque (pantie), and the frills. Between 20 - 30 measurements are taken to construct a tutu. This can be done online if required. Then a toile (early version of finished garment) can be produced before the final tutu is constructed. A fully decorated finished tutu made to fit takes 60 - 65 hours to make, with a lead time of four to six weeks. Tulle Row performance tutus range in price from $900.

Practice Tutu

The practice tutu is a half tutu and does not have a bodice. It is comprised of frills (layers of net) and a basque (pantie). The layers of net are hand-stitched and the basque is made from the net. All Tulle Row tutus are produced with a net pantie as it breathes and doesn’t produce sweat. The basque can then be dipped and delicately cleaned, preferable to a lycra pantie that fails to perform over time. Every practice tutu is form-fitted and takes 20 - 30 hours to make, with a lead time of four weeks. Tulle Row practice tutus are priced at $300.

Static Tutu

Static tutus are a creative expression of an appreciation for dance. They commonly involve collaboration in a shared pursuit of an idea or theme. Tulle Row produces this tutu for institutions, individuals, and bespoke businesses. The static tutu is a highly technical garment commonly designed to fit a fiberglass form.
